Similarly, the Southwest US is claimed by the Mexicans (and Mexican Government) based on prior habitation, yet that claim carries no weight outside of the Mexican mindset. See Link How much credence would we give if the UN decided we needed to give the land back to the Mexicans?

Anytime they'd like to bring up their armies(as they did before) to claim that area let them do it. Israel has claimed its area and speaks with its army on that issue...let the mexicans do the same.

They do not need a military army, they are doing so with the army of illegal aliens, and with the help of the US Government.

Look for that to change first part of November. States are already rebelling against the feds on this issue. I defy anyone to show me any legitimate poll done on this topic over the last 25 years where you don't see 60% to 80% of americans wanting the illegals here rounded up and kicked out and/or the border closed to them.

If the argument for Israel keeping the land she won during their wars with the Arab is that she has prior claim to the area based on historical occupation, then why don't the Mexican have an equally valid claim on the lands annexed after the Mexican-American war? They had prior legal ownership and occupation of the area.

I am not hopeful that the November elections will close the borders. After Obama's success with ramming ObamaCare through against the will of a substantial majority of the American people, I do believe he will do something similar with the issue of illegal immigration.

Once the illegals have been given the right to participate in American Government without even the formality of renouncing faith and allegiance to a foreign government, then the politics in the areas with substantial (currently) illegals will change substantially.

Mexico was not founded 1300BC...israel was. There was NO mexico in 1300BC just as there was no palestine 1300BC...but there was an israel. Just as the american indian had thousands of years to develop this land so did the mexicans. Both cultures fell behind because of tribalism and civil disorder. Other cultures advanced and took over these failed cultures during the age of exploration.

Israel, however, was NOT a failed culture in its day. It was highly advanced with high levels of science, math, etc. It was conquered first by Alexander the Great massive army and then the Roman empire. Very different from a failed culture losing its land because it is a 1000 years behind a highly advanced conquering culture.

Don't lose hope. The democrat-controlled congress has already told Obama that they will not allow him to bring gitmo detainees to our soil. They just killed Obama's second stimulus program last week. Once republicans regain their majorities or near majorities, the Obama presidency is effectively over. They can block any and all Obama programs they want.

The dates are immaterial.

Mexico was not a failed culture during the Mexican-American war any more than Israel was a failed culture in her day. They were not a superpower, but they were not a failed culture. The were both defeated by a superior military power. The Mexicans lost their land to the US just like the Israel of Biblical times lost their land to the various invaders. Israel was removed from the land in successive waves, beginning around 567 BC and ending in the Diaspora of 70 AD. Their secular claim to the land ended at that time. The secular claims of the Mexican against the US Southwest ended at the end with the Treaty of Hildago. Israel's current claims to the land begin with the UN in 1948, supplemented with military victory.

The case is the same. If prior occupation is the criteria, then nobody has a right to anywhere.

Simply because someone lived in a land in a prior decade/century/millenium does not confer ownership over that land in the present - everywhere there are people today was once occupied by another people.

The dates are everything just as the maps of that era are everything.

Mexico was a failed 3rd-world culture then as it is now. In modern times it opted for a one-party communist-like government for 70 years that keep it in 3rd-world status. It should be treated as an enemy to the U.S. and made to reimburse us financially for officially deporting its poverty to this country for the past 50 years. Mexico's gas and oil wells are expected to run dry in the next ten years which means we will have to shoot and kill invading mexicans(illegals) in the near future. Let Mexico implode...it's the least we can do to them.

When an advanced culture like isreal was in 1300BC settles a dying land and builds cities and advances the sciences, etc for more than a 1000 years, IT OWNS THAT LAND! Mexico was nothing compared to israel and is today a 3rd-world country while israel is an advanced democracy. Apples vs oranges.
