I had an idea earlier this morning, as I was rushing out the door to go to work (again forgetting my keys to the building, UGH). Since the truth is just as relevant, if not more so, to history why not create a subforum in General Discussion that is devoted exclusively to history? Historians and history enthusiasts by profession and by nature love to seek out and uncover the truth about what has happened in the past. Is this a good idea?

I think that is a great idea! Chuq has a thread dealing w/his Native-American History on Coyote's forum. And who knows ? You may get stories from someone who is Jewish, and they could have a parent/grandparent who lived thru the Holocaust in WW II in Europe, plus military people and their families may all have been military for years. My husband's family has been here since the 1500's, and there could be others who have a family that were "early settler's" in this country before The Revolution.

I think it is a great idea!

Sounds good to me. Seems like almost every day I come across some little nugget that they didn't teach when I was taking history. Of course, a lot less had happened when I first studied history. sword_rune.gif And I've seen some really atrocious interpretations of history, especially over on LF, where Clem and the Kids spout their bullshit all the time. When you open that forum, I've got a little story about a US war that I'll bet nobody knows about. shockbefuddled.gif

Cool!

I am a history major and I am particularly fascinated with economic history. I think I'll post some subjects with some interesting perspectives and facts that the general public probably doesn't know about- no thanks to the Right!
