Assertation number #2: Socalism/communism was once taken seriously- Well it's common knoweldge that the other super power for about 50 years full name announced it's socialism, and a large portion of the world was under governments touting socialism or communism.

Assertation number #3: It is impossible to prove a negative, it is up to you to assert as to why socialims is still a serious ideology (if you believe so).

Seldon, you know the rules of this forum state that if you make a statement, it is considered proper etiquette to back it up. Since you refuse to do so, and insist on lying your way out of answering or changing the subject, you have nothing to contribute to this thread. I am doing none of those things young padawan. Stating common knoweldge and/or opinions doesn't require facts. Socialism is a dead ideology, even "socialist" parties in most of the world are essentially center lef, who don't advocate for most of the things this parties platofrm calls for. They may want a better pension system or Univerisl healthcare or what not, but its in moderation and within a market economy, it's the so called "third way" advocated by Tony Blair's labor party.

No, mike the third way is an acceptance of reality and a mixing of the good (if there is such a thing) from socialm and the good of a market economy. I'm sorry man but I don't see any of the posters as being "brow beaten" in anyway shape or form. The "third way" is an excuse for being a moral and ideological coward, in my humble observation. Jeff over at OtL is a perfect example: unwilling to commit fully to either left or right, because he's afraid of what you right-wingers might say about him if he fully embraces his more left-wing tendencies. You needn't lie about the wimps at OtL not being brow-beaten; your side has done its work well -- few there are brave enough to stand up to you right-wingers on anything, hence the "polite police" (as Rubato calls them).
